The last Sunday of every month is set for monthly family night program at Woodland mosque. April 29, 2012 being the last Sunday of the month was our monhtly' Family Night Potluck Dinner'.
On this occasion with the cooperation of Shifa Clinic Sacramento, a 'Health Fair' was organized at the mosque. As Woodland mosque is a cutting edge Islamic center, having health fair at the mosque was result of general plan and a broader vision of the administration which is working hard to do things in true Islamic spirit.
The administration not only makes efforts to provide true spiritual guidance and worship place according to Quran and Sunnah of the prophet, it is also trying to make the mosque a true Islamic center where opportunities should be provided to all segments of the community to get awareness and information for other issues we all face and deal with in all our daily lives.
A mix group of over 20 medical professional Including Urdu, Punjabi, English speaking male/female doctors in different medical fields were at the program. To cover different medical areas 5 booths set up for help as follows:
1. Chronic Conditions , ( Awareness, Risk Factors, Prevention).
2. Resources : Dental flyers- VSP Vouchers-Other resources lists.
3. Vitals PLUS Health Education focus on managing disease
4. Diet & Exercise - common back pain Exercises
5. Men / Women Health including Cancer
A- WOMEN, Women’s Health – Breast & Cervical Cancer, Menopause/Osteoporosis
B- MEN, Prostate Cancer, Lung Cancer
Additionally different rooms were set up for private consultations for men and ladies. For smaller kids there was face painting, games and information about dental hygiene, issues related to and information about food and nutirition as well.
About 125 men, women and young adults attended the program. Qari Aamir Hussain started the program with recitation of the Quran and invited Khalid Saeed, Public Relations Director of the mosque to move the program forward and to introduce Shifa Clinic staff, explain the purpose to the community and to introduce and thank the mosque management in organizing the activity of this event.

At the end dinner was served to the community and the Shifa Clinic staff. Khalid Saeed offered the vote of thank at the end of the program.
